Hair care in monsoon # part2

Hair problem becomes more frequent in the monsoon some of the tips will help you to take care of your hair at home. high humidity level in the atmosphere make our hair dull and oily scalp ,which leads to hair problems.
Oil massage: I have seen women avoid hair massage in the monsoon season season,because monsoon season gives hairs a lifeless look and dull hair. Take 2 tablespoon of warm coconut oil and mix it with a lemon juice and orange juice. You can increase the proportion of oil according to your hair length.massage it into the scalp and hair.  Wash after an hour. It will prevent hairs from becoming frizzy. You can also use warm olive oil or seasame seeds oil, Avocado oil

Home made shampoo: 1.I have found the fuller earth, fenugreek and mint mixed with lemon juice and water makes a great shampoo and leaves the hair stunning.

2. Marigold flowers : Add a handful of fresh marigold or dried marigold flowers to three cups of hot water. after one hour strain the water and rinse your hair.  Marigold flowers will do wonders to your hairs

3.Fenugreek : Soak fenugreek seed in the water for overnight , strain the water and rinse your hairs.

4.Reetha (soap nut),Amla (Indian gooseberry),Shikhai (Acacia concinna),Brahmi (bacapo monnieri): soak them in water for overnight and strain the water of it and rinse your hairs with it. you can boil it and strain it.

Hair pack :1 cup of honey, 1cup almond oil and 1 cup of ground manjoram tea leaves. mix together and apply on the saclp and leave it for an hour. wash your hair with homemade shampoo . If done twice a week your hairs will be more thicker.
For dull hair: 20 crushed hibiscus leaves and 3 tablespoon of mint paste. mix it with the lime juice and apply it to scalp for 30 minutesand shampoo it.

Balanced diet : Balanced diet is also equal important for hairs and skin. increase the intake of curd,salad,fruits.

Avoid hairstyling: hair styling in monsoon can damage your hairs. don't tie your hairs tightly .

skin care in monsoon #Part 1

Most of us were waiting for monsoon to get relief from the summer. Monsoon season change the look of our environment. The green beauty can be seen all over, fragrance of rain on parched earth, the cool breeze but on the other hand monsoon brings some of the skin and hair problems too.You can solve this problem with a little care at home.

Skin
Monsoon season is increases the level of humidity and it brings lots of problem for those who suffer from oily and acne prone skin.
Oil free and squeaky-clean skin : Store a cup of fuller's earth. Mix fuller earth  with enough rose water to make a smooth paste and 1 tablespoon of camphor powder. Keep this paste in the fridge in an airtight jar and use 1 teaspoon as a face wash thrice a day. This will reduce the oiliness and give your skin a clean feel.

For pimple free skin : 2 tablespoon of fuller's earth, 2drops clove oil, 1tablespoon sandalwood powder, 1 tablespoon finely ground neem paste. Mix to a thick paste and apply on pimple . Let it dry completely. this can be used daily.

For acne: 2 tablespoon fuller's earth, apinch of camphor and 2 drops of clove oil. Mix this mixture and apply on the pimple.

Caution: Little extra amount of clove oil can burn your skin.

Peach and mango salsa

Ingredients
2 cups peaches diced, peeled and
2 cups mango diced, peeled and
1 cup tomato diced
1/2 cup green onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon fresh coriander, chopped
Dash of ginger
Dash of garlic powder
Dash of black pepper, freshly ground 
Honey to taste
Method
Combine all the ingredients and add honey in it according to the sweetness of peaches.
Refrigerate it for few hours before serving.

Sun Dried Tomato and Goat Cheese Salad



Ingredients
100 gm sun dried tomato
20 ml vinegar
100 gm strawberry
100 gm chopped almonds
40 ml extra virgin olive oil
200 gm crisp lettuce
20 gm crumbled cheese
1 tablespoon freshly crushed black pepper
1 tablespoon salt

Method
Marinate the tomatoes for 20 minutes in vinegar,extra virgin olive oil,black pepper and salt and keep aside.
Place the lettuce in a plate,arrange sun-dried tomatoes,strawberry and crumbled cheese,chopped almonds on the top.
Drizzle with some vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.

Cherry sauce

Ingredients
1 can or 500gm fresh cherries or pitted red cherries
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup water


Method
Wash and deseed the cherries. Add cherries and little bit of water in a blender and blend them. After few minutes,strain the juice with a strainer.
In a bowl mix cornstarch with lemon juice and whisk it well until it becomes smooth.
In a saucepan add granulated sugar, cherry juice and water. Bring it to a boil over medium heat and keep stirring.Cook until the liquid has thickened.
Serve warm

Herbal beauty

Herbal magic lies in our backyard which is very helpful and healthy for our skin and far more better than artificial products. These herbal plants have antioxidants and anti-ageing properties.
Cleansing
Cleansing always comes first for the flawless skin.

For oily skin

Ingredients
One litre distilled water.
50 gm fresh lemon grass.
50 gm neem leaves.
1/2 tablespoon camphor powder.


Method
Take one litre of distilled water in a pan.
Add lemon grass.
Add neem leaves and simmer the gas,boil until it becomes half.
After it cools down add camphor powder.
Strain and store.
Wipe your face with this cleanser using cotton pads and let it soak in.
Don't rinse, it is a good toner too.


For Dry Skin

Ingredients 
Olive oil
Wheat germ oil

Method
Take olive oil and add 2-3 drops of wheat germ oil.
Massage your face with this concoction and wipe off with wet cotton pads.
It takes away all the grime and make up,leaves your skin soft and glowing.


Face scrubs
Exfoliation is the important process to get rid of dead skin cells.

Oily skin

Ingredients
1/2 tablespoon turmeric
10 finely ground cloves
1/2 tablespoon camphor
5 tablespoon red lentils
3 tablespoon fuller's earth
3 tablespoon marigold flowers
3 tablespoon sandalwood powder
1 tablespoon basil powder
Method
Take a each tablespoon of each ingredients.
Mix all the ingredients with lemon grass tonic or rose water.
Scrub away.

Dry skin
5 tablespoon almonds.
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon powder
5 tablespoon oatmeal
2 tablespoon rose powder (rose petals)
Method
Mix and store
Mix it with honey or milk

Face packs
Face pack is most important as it is a way to soak in the goodness of herbs.

Oily skin

Ingredients
3 tablespoon of neem leaves powder 3 tablespoon basil powder
1 tablespoon rosemary powder.
1 tablespoon of fuller's earth
1 tablespoon of camphor
Pinch of nutmeg


Method
Mix all the ingredients
Apply it on the face for 15 minutes and wash it off.
This tightens the pores.


Dry skin

Ingredients
Half mashed banana
2 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon ground parsley
1 tablespoon powdered basil

Method
Mix all the ingredients .
Apply it on your face for 20 minutes.

6 Alphonso mangoes (peeled and chopped)
Granulated sugar 1 bowl


Method
In a pan add chopped mangoes and sugar on low heat until the mixture reaches the honey like consistency.
Cool and store it in a refrigerator.

PROTECT YOUR SKIN IN SUMMER

Temperature is increasing day by day. All are facing some or the other problem related to skin. It is a major issue to keep the skin healthy and nourished. One must do everything to keep the body cool

Some of the tips are as follows

1.Fluids - Increase the intake of fluids in your diet like coconut water,juices,buttermilk. Staying hydrated in summer is one of the important activity as it helps in maintaining the moisture,flush toxic out of the body and keeps skin clean and clear.

2.Sunblock lotion - It is imperative to use a sunblock lotion when you are stepping out of the house. it helps to protect our skin from ultra-violet rays which are very harmful for our skin . it makes our skin looks dull and old.

3.Cleanser- Use a good water based cleanser which is non-fragranced and non soap based. it keeps the skin rejuvenated and will clean the skin deeply.

4.Natural face packs- Natural face packs are more beneficial. Our kitchen is full of natural products . we should use those products. Cucumber,lemon,coconut milk and many others are very healthy for our skin.

Grate cucumber and mix it with rose water  and apply on the face. you can use the plain water also

Papaya mask is very good for skin.

Aloe-vera gel is also full of nutrients and good for skin.

5. Face wipes-  Carry face wipes as you step out of the house . they are the most hygienic ways of preserving the freshness of the skin. they are helpful in removing the impurities of the skin.

6.Cover your head- Use a hat or a scarf to protect your hairs from the harmful radiations as they will damage the hairs.

7. Protect your eyes- protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses as ultra violet rays are very harmful for the eyes also.

8. Wear light colors- Dark colors tend to absorb more heat than light colors. light colors tends to reflect sunshine and keeps our body cool.

9.Avoid salty and greasy foods-  It has long-terms effects on our heath. These types of food are giving invitations to many diseases like cardio-vascular diseases and many others. Keep your
meal light and full of vegetables, fruits and liquids.

Raw mango is an unripened fruit of summer. It is also  used in many ways like for making mango pickes, jams, squash, dried powders,sauces, juices. It is also used in ayurvedic medicines.
It is full of health properties,which are as follows:-)


1. Keeps dehydration away :-) Raw mango sprinkled with salt helps to restore minerals and salts lost due to sweat.


2. Good for liver:-) It increase the secretion of  bile acid which is good for healthy liver.


3. Blood disorder :-) It has a ability to cure blood disorder because it is full of vitamin c and helps information of new cells.


4. Health stroke:-) It guards from the excessive effects of high temperature.


5. Morning sickness:-) Eating raw mango with salt is helpful in curing morning sickness.



6. Looks younger:-) It is full of beta carotene ,antioxidants and vitamin A ,which is good for skin.



7.Scurvy:-) It is full of vitamin C, which helps in curing scury.

Cranberry juice

It is a versatile fruit and it have a tremendous amount of antioxidants properties as compared to other fruits and vegetables.
It is helpful in curing gum diseases,respiratory disorders,cancer and kidney stones. It is also helpful in curing scurvy and it is full of vitamin c.


Ingredients
1 lb cranberries
1 quart water
Sugar as per taste


Method
Wash the cranberries. In a large saucepan combine cranberries and water . Bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and cook until berries burst. Strain the juice and add sugar. Refrigerate the juice before serving.


Caution:-) Too much of cranberry juice is also harmful for health.
